DBA713 and the next subject, DBA714, expose candidates to intensive study in the discipline group that forms part of the approved field of research. Candidates undertake a program of directed, in depth, reading to an advanced level in the field of research in which they wish to specialise for the dissertation. The subject requires candidates to become exceptionally familiar with the literature in the field of research, and to thoroughly understand the major processes, techniques, issues, problems and knowledge within the field of research that will enable the candidate to successfully pursue a dissertation. Assumed knowledge for this subject is equivalent to that covered in DBA712.
This subject, in conjunction with DBA714, endeavours to provide the candidate with intensive training in a field of research so that the candidate can successfully complete the dissertation component of the DBA.

Candidates will be required to produce a literature review of up to 15,000 words to demonstrate mastery of the subject material.
