GRADUATION


HOW TO APPLY

Students wishing to exit with an award are required to request this formally. Students who elect to take out a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma and wish to return to complete their Graduate Diploma or MBA at a later date will be required to rescind the previous award before the higher qualification can be awarded.

From Study Period 1 2007 students who are currently enrolled in the APESMA La Trobe program and elect to take out a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma will receive an APESMA La Trobe testamur. When they enrol into the Graduate Diploma or MBA they will then receive an APESMA testamur. Students cannot enrol into a higher APESMA La Trobe program once they take out an award.

Applications for graduation must be received by APESMA by the following dates:

  • 31st April 2008 (if you anticipate to complete your award in Study Period 3, 2007)
    Formal documentation to confirm the completion of your award will be sent to you in August 2008 and your certificate will be printed in October.

  • 31st July 2008 (if you anticipate to complete your award in Study Period 1, 2008)
    Formal documentation to confirm the completion of your award will be sent to you in August and your certificate will be printed in October.

  • 31st January 2009 (if you anticipate to complete your award in Study Period 2, 2008)
    Formal documentation to confirm the completion of your award will be sent to you in March 2009 and your certificate will be printed in May 2009.

EXTENSION OF TIME

Time Limit
Graduate Certificate – 3 years
Graduate Diploma – 6 years
MBA – 10 years

If you exceed any of these time limits you can apply for an extension of time. An extension of time application must be a formal letter addressed to the General Manager and needs to include the following information:

  • A reason as to why the time limit has been or will be exceeded
  • An estimate of how much longer will be needed to complete an award
  • A study plan outlining what units you intend to do and when, for the remainder of your studies.

Students who are planning on exiting with a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma and have exceeded the time limit for the program will be able to apply for an extension of time.

Students who will be continuing study for the Graduate Diploma or MBA will be not be eligible for an extension of time and therefore will not be able to take out the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma.

TRANSFER OF PROGRAM

If you would like to transfer programs you can apply to do this. A transfer of program application must be a formal letter addressed to the General Manager and needs to include the following information:

  • The current program you are enrolled in
  • The program you would like to transfer to
  • A valid reason for wanting to transfer.

Please note, students are not eligible to transfer programs once they have completed all the required units for their program they are currently enrolled in. Students need to apply for a transfer of program before they complete their last unit.

Please note that students enrolled prior to 2007 can transfer streams at the same award level (ie Graduate Diploma to Graduate Diploma Technology Management) and still be eligible for an APESMA La Trobe award.

Students who want to transfer to a higher level award (ie Graduate Certificate to MBA (Technology Management) will be eligible for an APESMA award.
