The DBA will quickly become a differentiator in senior management within Australia. Over the last five years some 12,000 people per year participated in MBA programs. It is estimated that some 4,000 MBA graduates come onto the job market each year. It has been projected that the MBA will become a standard degree for people wishing to move into middle and senior management positions. It is not surprising, then, that the DBA will become a degree which will provide a competitive advantage to graduates.
It is important that a doctoral degree provide not only increased learning opportunities in various fields of business and management, but also provides an opportunity for candidates to reflect on and develop significant business and management ideas. The DBA is conferred by CSU but is offered to APESMA members at a discounted fee. It will provide candidates with a framework to expand their knowledge in one or more business and management areas and will also provide an opportunity for the development, through the dissertation, of a significant business or management project.
The object of the DBA is advanced, critical reflection on professional practice in business. The DBA will provide an opportunity for senior business and related personnel, particularly from the engineering, science, IT and other technology professions, to refine and extend their business education at an advanced level. This education will proceed in a manner which builds upon existing strengths by further developing the traditional areas of expertise in which candidates are now required to perform and provide them a formal educational opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities at the highest level. This will provide all candidates with a competitive advantage in achieving even higher levels of success in business.
On completion of the DBA, graduates will have:
